Not everything God gives is a gift

I am pretty vain about my hair (which is not much of a secret.. it is pretty awesome). I also have been dying my hair for the past 7+ years (also not much of a secret) because it has one defect.. it's not really an attractive color. I used to be blonde and then as I went through puberty, it started to get darker. It decided to stop changing color in that "dishwater blonde" or "ash brown" stage. Both awful names for the complete boring, awful color that is my natural hair.

Anyway, recently I has decided that I was sick of dying my hair all the time so I decided to try to let my hair grow out. The color transition wasn't horrendous as far as I could tell and so I haven't dyed my hair in about 6 months (not counting my black stripes). People in the past week have been commenting how light my hair was getting.. and then I saw pictures from a few nights ago. AWFUL! My old faded colors had turned brassy and gross!! (Btw, thank you everyone in my life who sees me on a regular basis and never thought to tell me)

So, I stopped by the store today and bought a semi permanent color (just to give it a splash) that matched my roots. Well, my hair looks shiny and healthy again and that I am happy about. The part that I am sad about is that hair color out of a box with the name "Ash Brown" is still prettier than my natural hair color..

So sad... it looks like I'll be dying my hair until I go grey.

  1. Just wait a while - your hair will get darker. Uncle Tom was blonder than you and his hair turned very dark. BTW, congrats on the Johnny Virgil comment.
